Electrical and Mechanical safety
Before starting Sanders Associates, Tony Sanders spent 22 years designing products for Black & Decker. The design and operation of electric power tools is of course extremely safety critical in both mechanical and electrical terms. At the same time the power tool market is highly competitive and very price sensitive and B&D operates all over the world. There can be no better environment to hone the design skills needed to address electrical & mechanical safety and the wide variety of legislation relating to it. These skills have been offered to clients for the last 11 years and have proved very cost effective on many occasions.

As an example, we have been helping an American company ensure that their US designed- Chinese manufactured product range complies with European safety legislation. Over the past 6 years we have helped them re-engineer several products that would have failed to achieve CE certification, and have managed the certification process for them. We created and currently maintain the CE Technical Files and certification on each of their products and operate a “helpline” to advise their sales and marketing people in Europe on any matter concerning electrical and mechanical safety or user instruction manuals.
