A firm making air-flow measuring instruments and air-moving equipment. Gained hands-on experience with all aspects of development, manufacture and customer care.
22 years at Black & Decker in a variety of product development roles. Developing products where product quality, user safety, product durability, manufacture cost and shelf-appeal were highly critical to competitive advantage.
13 years as project Engineer. In depth knowledge of materials and processes appropriate to high volume manufacture of consumer durables. Mains power tools, cordless power tools, kitchen equipment, lawn and gardening tools etc.
Developed many products for automated or semi automated production lines.
7 years as design manager of a significant segment of the power tool portfolio.
Strong advocate of a concurrent development approach, with multi-disciplinary teams and team member empowerment.
Author of several guides to product development management using time and resource planning software.
A key part of the management team tasked with devising and implementing leading edge product development management systems. This system worked across multinational project teams in multiple sites around the world. Using a common resource pool. It slashed time to market and improved product quality at launch.
